Job description
Blue Earth Capital AG is a Switzerland-based global impact investment firm with offices in Zug, New York, London and soon Madrid. We aim to address critical social and environmental challenges while achieving market-rate returns. With > 50 employees and €1.6 billion in assets under management, BlueEarth invests globally across all impact sectors. BlueEarth is a global impact manager seeking to address both environmental and social challenges, via private equity, private credit, fund investments, and secondary transactions.
The Role
As a Funds Controller, Analyst, you will independently oversee fund vehicle accounts and reporting, working closely with our third-party administrator and other service providers. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, representing BlueEarth and its fund vehicles with professionalism. Working from Madrid, the position reports to BlueEarth's Funds Controller, based in Zug.
Key Responsibilities
Control and reconciliation of each fund vehicles’ Statement of Investments, capturing all investment-level transactions across private credit, private equity, co-investments, funds (primaries and secondaries) and SPVs
Fund vehicle accounting oversight, including asset valuations and NAV reconciliation on a quarterly or monthly basis
Drive timely delivery of fund reporting, incl. quarterly/monthly investment reports, Capital Account Statements and Side Letter-driven reporting
Management of the annual audit and preparation of funds’ financial statements, coordinating seamlessly with auditors and handling their requests efficiently
Support in delivery of investor-level & fund tax and regulatory reporting with third-party service providers
Identify and drive process improvements, documentation, and control enhancements — including procedure manuals and accounting principles
Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including fund administrators and service providers, to ensure accuracy of fund accounting and reporting
Represent BlueEarth with internal and external stakeholders on fund account queries, including supporting Investor Relations on addressing investor inquiries
Job requirements
We are looking for a professional with the ability and willingness to excel within a highly entrepreneurial organization. The successful candidate should have:
1-3 years of relevant professional work experience in private markets or private equity/debt investments
Understanding of private equity-specific accounting (e.g. fund lifecycle, closings, capital calls/distributions, carried interest, valuations)
Experience/track record in fund operations/controlling/accounting
Proficiency in Excel; experience of eFront and/or iLevel is an advantage but not a necessity
Excellent academic credentials with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or similar; or professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Self-motivated and proactive team player with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong attention to detail
Excellent analytical, inter-personal, and written communication skills
Business fluency in written and spoken English is required
