Job description
Blue Earth Capital (BlueEarth) is a global, independent impact investment firm headquartered in Switzerland, with offices in Zug, New York, London, and Konstanz, and soon in Madrid. The firm operates dedicated private equity, private credit, and fund solutions strategies, as well as separately managed accounts. BlueEarth seeks to deliver measurable impact alongside attractive, market-rate financial returns. The role
As a Senior Funds Controller, you will take full ownership of fund vehicle accounts and reporting, driving outcomes from investment and fund accounting to final delivery of investor reports. You will work closely with our third-party fund administrators and service providers, holding them accountable for quality and timeliness, while serving as BlueEarth's authoritative point of contact for fund accounting matters. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, representing BlueEarth and its fund vehicles with professionalism. Working from Madrid, the position reports to BlueEarth's Group Operations Manager, based in Zug.
Your responsibilities will include:
Own end-to-end control and reconciliation of each fund vehicles’ Statement of Investments, ensuring completeness and accuracy across all investment types from transaction accounting to final sign-off.
Fund vehicle accounting controlling, including asset valuations and NAV reconciliation on a quarterly or monthly basis
Drive timely delivery of fund reporting, including quarterly/monthly Capital Account Statements, investment reports and Side Letter-driven reporting, managing all dependencies and escalating blockers proactively
Own the funds’ annual audit process end-to-end - from initial planning and financial statement preparation through to final sign-off - coordinating auditors and resolving their requests independently and efficiently.
Support in delivery of investor-level & fund tax and regulatory reporting with third-party service providers
Proactively identify gaps and take ownership of implementing process improvements, controls, and documentation - including procedure manuals and accounting principles
Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including fund administrators and service providers, to ensure accuracy of fund accounting and reporting
Represent BlueEarth with internal and external stakeholders on fund accounting queries, including supporting Investor Relations on addressing investor inquiries
Job requirements
We are looking for a professional with the ability and willingness to excel within a highly entrepreneurial organization. The successful candidate should have:
8-12 years of relevant professional work experience in private markets or private equity/debt investments
Understanding of private market-specific accounting (e.g. fund lifecycle, closings, capital calls/distributions, carried interest, valuations)
Experience/track record in fund operations/controlling/accounting
Proficiency in Excel; experience of eFront and/or iLevel is an advantage but not a necessity
Excellent academic credentials with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or similar; or professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Self-motivated and proactive team player with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong attention to detail
Excellent analytical, inter-personal, and written communication skills
Business fluency in written and spoken English is required
